Kiteboarders from all over the world call Cabarete, Dominican Republic their home for several months during the year. Fact is, since 2006 have had over 300 days of kiteable wind per year. Technically, “kiteable wind” is anything over 11 knots and in 2013 we had an amazing 340 days of kiteable wind, thanks to La Niña. So far, 2014 has been amazing and “season” isn’t even here yet (June-August). You can find a ton of information about the wind history here on the Kite Excite website.

Kite school owner and Cabrinha sponsored rider, Richard Flindall, has been traveling from the UK to the Dominican Republic for the past 6 years to train and have fun. While he was here this year, he pounded out a few tricks for the camera and local kiter/video editor, Charles Osterland, was here to help him put it all together in a short, but sweet action packed video. The reel not only shows off Richy’s smooth freestyle kiteboarding skills, but it also shows off the conditions right here in front of our hotel.

Hope you enjoy! Even better, hope to see you on the water 😉
